The Valley Community Land Trust (VCLT) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in Franklin County Massachusetts that holds title to land, considering it neither as private nor public property, but as a sacred resource to be held in trust for present and future generations.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis for living on the VCLT land on Van Nuys Rd in Colrain until all leaseholds have been filled. The first application deadline was Friday March 22nd, but we will continue to accept applications until all leaseholds are settled.
We are very excited and pleased to announce our first purchase of new land in more than 15 years. The new parcel is 32 acres with an existing farm house in east Colrain just over the hill from the five existing Colrain VCLT leaseholds. We hope to sell the house to someone on our waiting list of potential lessees and we’ll be spending the next few months doing research and meeting with key stakeholders about creating additional housing lots on the land.
An application is now available for buying the house or building a new home on one of the additional house sites. To apply, you will first need to become a VCLT member. Our application review scores applicants based on a variety of criteria, such as past VCLT involvement, history of local residency and community involvement, housing need and fit with the particular leasehold.
